Wow, doesn’t time fly! Well, it does when you’re having fun. We can hardly believe it but we’ve already reached that point in our cruising season where Splendour moves from her base in Dunoon, and the slightly more sheltered waters of the Clyde, to Oban. Skipper Ted, Chef Thomas, and a boat full of wonderful guests, are approaching the mid-way point of their thirteen night Hebridean Odyssey Cruise – the longest trip we offer. This is a Scottish Hebridean islands cruise travelling from Holy Loch to Oban, seeing the best of the islands. From the 900 foot high sea cliffs of Skye to the sand dunes of Mingulay, wildlife spotting and visiting world famous whisky distilleries along the way, this really is the Scottish cruise of a lifetime, and always a popular one in our calendar. We have space in 2024, so do get in touch if you’d like to join us.
So far the 2023 cruising season has been going brilliantly. Skipper Ted, now in his second season at the helm, and Chef Thomas, new to us this year and cooking up a storm with the best of local produce (why not check out his offerings over on Instagram @chef_thomas_argyll_cruising), are having a great time with our guests, welcoming aboard some familiar faces from last year, as well as plenty of new friends from all over the world.
Of the eight trips so far this year, three have been Scottish private charter cruises, which are always so much fun as guests have the whole boat to themselves and set the agenda – weather and practicalities depending, of course. They’re a great opportunity for families and friends, old and young, to get together, unwind and reconnect in the stunning scenery here on the West Coast. Enjoy kayaking, fishing and even catching lobsters – the ultimate in food straight from source to table.
Some particular highlights from this year so far have been a number of successful trips out to the bird mecca of Ailsa Craig, dolphins escorting Splendour back into her berth in Holy Loch and some wonderful birthday and anniversary celebrations on board, complete with cake, champagne and stunning scenery. What more could you ask for? Get in touch if you’d like any information about options for your own Scottish private charter cruises.
So as Ted, Thomas and the guests head off to Oban ready for a nearly-sold-out summer season of cruises, we’ll all be hoping for more gorgeous sunny days. And if not, well, as they say, there’s no such thing as bad weather, just wrong clothes!
We still have some space in our 2023 cruising calendar if you’re after a last minute break or we’d love to see you in 2024.
