Argyll is dotted with gardens and historic houses, where you can marvel at the array of flowers growing, or find a mindful moment of quiet to “forest bathe”.
Here are three of our favourite gardens across Argyll:
Just a few miles north of the Holy Loch is Benmore Botanic Gardens, perfect for a picnic or meal at the Redwood cafe just before or after a trip aboard Splendour. The garden is home to towering Californian Redwoods, a fernery, and many colours of Rhododendron. If you are lucky, you will spot one of the red squirrels who live there. There is also a small and perfectly formed gift shop if you have forgotten to buy any souvenirs to take home!
Tucked along Loch Fyne lies Ardkinglas Gardens, home to the UK’s tallest tree, the Gruffalo trail and in May a carpet of bluebells.
Also nestled on the shores of Loch Fyne is Crarae Woodland Garden with its Himalayan style garden, waterfalls and chambered cairn for keen archaeologists.
It was nearly impossible choosing only three gardens, with Mount Stuart on Bute and the Arboretum in Kilmun close contenders.
