Family Holiday Afloat for Perfect Harmony

Parents with children of different ages know the dilemma of trying to find a family holiday that will keep everyone happy, with teenagers in particular very hard to please.  A charter on our vessel “Splendour” is the answer; not only will the children be thrilled, but the adults can have some time out too.

Messing about in boats appeals to all ages, but it offers so much fun for children.  While the younger ones play pirates, the older ones can try their hand at steering the boat, fishing, dropping creels, kayaking and even swimming in the sea lochs.  Going ashore to places by boat, which are otherwise unreachable and where you are the only humans becomes an adventure, especially if you take a shot of driving the dinghy.  A picnic on the beach and a spot of rock pooling provides the perfect family afternoons entertainment. A shore walk is fascinating, spotting nature and wildlife on the way, then getting picked up by the boat tender and heading back out to sea, and the waiting vessel.  Cycling on shore is also a great family holiday activity and bikes can be stored on deck.

But perhaps the best bit, especially for the parents, is getting back to the boat to find a fabulous dinner, ready to be served with perhaps the option of a chilled alfresco drink on deck first.  Everyone eats together in the dining deck saloon with lots of stories to tell.  As dusk falls, the books and games are brought out to a backdrop of a sunset or starry skies and moonlight on the water.  As Iain the Skipper says, (emulating Para Handy);  “Chust sublime”.
